Major differences are reported to have developed between members of the Austrian Cabinet with regard to the Jewish demands for reparations which are now being negotiated here. While it is known that Chancellor Julius Raab is interested in bringing the negotiations to a satisfactory conclusion, Foreign Minister Dr. Karl Gruber abstains from displaying any interest in them.
The attitude of the Foreign Minister is provoking a good deal of speculation here as to his stand. A more positive interest in the matter was expected from him as the person who is watching developments abroad concerning Austria. It is hoped that Dr. Gruber will make clear his position in the course of the next few days.
