Chancellor Leopold Figl, receiving a delegation of the Jewish community council today, promised to support, as far as possible, its demands for measures to rehabilitate Jews economically and politically, and said that be would deal with the council on all matters affecting Jews.
The delegation, the first Jewish group to be received at the Chancellory since the liberation of Austria, outlined to Figl the situation of the surviving Jews in the country. The Chancellor recalled the years he spent in Dacher and said that he “was full of admiration” for his Jewish comrades who had died there.
