Russia was criticized at a meeting of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights here this weekend for its ban on matzoh and its stepped up campaign against the Jewish religion. The criticism was voiced by Professor Erma Cora of Austria on Saturday after the Ukrainian delegate pressed for the adoption of a resolution aimed at creating an international “Freedom from Prejudice and Discrimination Year and Day.”
Professor Cora said: “I don’t see any reason for such a celebration while Jews are not permitted to bake unleavened bread and are not granted the rights given to all other minorities, and are not permitted to fulfill their religious duties or to use their own language.”
