Some 250 Rumanian Jewish refugees who were stranded recently on the Austro-Canadian border while frontier guards of both countries refused to permit them to move have finally been granted permission to enter Austria, the World Jewish Congress announced during the week-end.
The Jews will be permitted to proceed to the American zone. Permission for the move was obtained from the Austrian Government following the intervention of the World Jewish Congress and the Vienna Jewish Community, which is affiliated to it.
