The viewpoint of the Austrian government that the Jews are to be considered only ### a religious community, was ac###ed by the Union of Austrian ### in a communique issued today ### the headquarters of the Union. ###e communique states that the ### of Austrian Jews fully agrees ### the statement made by Prof. ###yer, head of the educational ###ment of the Vienna munici### that he stands on the principle that the Jews are a religious community only.
At the same time the communique emphasizes that the Union of Austrian Jews repudiates in principle any separation of Christian and Jewish students in the educational institutions, on the ground that this would destroy the possibility that afterwards, as adult citizens belonging to different creeds, they work together for the common good of the country.
