An Austrian Parliamentarian, Friedrich Peter, who arrived here for a week’s study-tour with a group of Austrian educators, disclosed today to newsmen that he had been an SS officer during World War II. Shock at the news reverberated through Dutch circles and headlines in the Dutch paper “De Telegraaf” declared: “Austria Sends Us Delegation Which Includes Nazis.” The paper also accused the Austrian Education Minister, Dr. Leopold Gratz, a member of the delegation, of being a former Nazi. It was later revealed however to newsmen that the accusation was groundless since 41-year-old Gratz was only nine years old at the start of the war.
