Prior to reopening the purged Austrian workers libraries, from which many books by Socialist and Jewish writers have been removed, the Austrian state commissar in charge of the libraries instituted courses for the new librarians. The courses lasted only a few days.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today from reliable sources that the libraries have been ‘cleansed’ of innumerable books written by Franz Werfel, Arthur Schnitzler, Emile Zola and Lion Feuchtwanger. However, Dr. Emmerich Czermak’s book, “Ordnung in de Judenfrage,” was left on the in der Judenfrage,” was left on the of the Christian Socialist party and leader of the group demanding severe restrictions against the Jews in Austria.
