The Nazi ideology is not only not dead in Austria but has shown an unexpected revival, Interior Minister Josef Afritsch told a meeting today of Socialist students in Graz. So far, in recent months, 130 persons, most of them youngsters, have been arrested and punished for swastika smearings and distribution of Nazi pamphlets, he said.
He added that such experiences called for a warning against understanding or minimizing the seriousness of such incidents. If present laws to deal with such incidents are insufficient, amendments will be proposed to Parliament, he warned.
