Followers of the Czortkower Rabbi were informed today that the Nazis demand 80,000 marks ransom before they will permit him to leave Austria. American followers of the famous Chassidic sage had reportedly obtained a visa in preparation for his emigration to the United States when the demand was made. The rabbi’s property was recently confiscated by the Vienna authorities.
