Walter P. Reuther, president of the United Automobile Workers today announced the contribution of $20,000 by his union toward the “growth and expansion” of the activities of Histadrut’s Afro-Asian Institute in Tel Aviv. The Institute, founded six years ago by Histadrut to help the development of labor leadership in the new nations of Asia and Africa, has won international acclaim for its role in this part of the world.
In his letter of transmittal, addressed to Aharon Becker, general secretary, and Yehoshua Levy, treasurer of Histadrut, Mr. Reuther said that “the UAW has followed with great interest the growth and expansion of the activities of Histadrut’s Afro-Asian Institute.”
