Prominent leaders of the American Jewish community including outstanding Zionists joined in a farewell reception here last night in honor of Aviad Yafeh, Israel Consul and director of the Israel Office of Information in the United States for the past five years, who is returning to Jerusalem this week to take up the post of director of the Information Department of the Israel Foreign Ministry.
Mr. Yafeh was lauded highly for his contributions to Israel-American understanding and friendship by Rabbi Irving Miller, chairman of the American Zionist Council; Mrs. Rose Halprin, chairman of the American section of the Jewish Agency executive; and Mrs. Judith Epstein, former president of Hadassah. The reception, which was given by the American Zionist Council, was held at the Jewish Agency headquarters. Mr. Yafeh will be succeeded here by Shlomo Argov.
