Rep. Herman Badillo (D. N. Y.), the only Puerto Rican Congressman, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency he was “deeply shocked” at the airport killings. The presence of Puerto Ricans in Israel “underscores the fact that Israel belongs to the world and is an International center for Christians as well as Jews.” Thus, he said, “It is all the more urgent that we have stability in Israel and throughout the Middle East.”
