“Due to the urgency of the need and the various problems involved in the unemployment situation,” according to an announcement made today by the Associated Jewish Charities, a lay group, representing business and professional interests, has been organized into a permanent advisory committee to the Vocational and Employment Department of the Jewish Social Service Bureau.
The purpose of the committee, as outlined at the organization meeting by Reuben Ottenheimer, chairman of the committee, is two-fold: job-finding and analysis of the unemployment problem as it exists in the community and its relation to the work of the Jewish Social Service Bureau.
The committee is representative of most of the industries in Baltimore, having among its personnel representatives of the needle trades, building trades, department stores, factories of various kinds, banking houses, advertising agencies and law, real estate and insurance firms. There are also in the group women familiar with domestic service needs.
