William M. Benesch, prominent merchant and philanthropist of Baltimore died on Sunday, of pneumonia at the Sinai Hospital. He was 57 years old.
He was vice-president of the Old Town National Bank and a member of the Phoenix and Suburban Clubs, the Elks, Eagles and Heptasophs. He was a former member of the board of the Eutaw Place Temple and acted as chairman of the committee that was in charge of building the recently constructed Temple Center. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Sinai Hospital.
Mr. Benesch’s philanthropies were non-sectarian. He was an active figure in charities among both the Jewish and Christian populations of the city.
