Members of the Baltimore Rabbinical Council have adopted a resolution expressing strong opposition to a proposed amendment to the City Charter which would prohibit the use of stray dogs for medical research. The amendment comes up for a vote in the general elections next week.
The Rabbinical group pointed out that “any attempt to hinder medical research through animal experimentation which aims to increase happiness and human life is unjustifiable from the viewpoint of religion.” The Baltimore Jewish community was urged to vote against the proposed city amendment.
