Considerable satisfaction is being expressed in Jewish circles of Lithuania over the banishment of Professor Augustine Voldemaras, former dictator and premier. The Jews of Lithuania have not forgotten his anti-Semitic program nor his role in the serious attacks on the Jews of Slobodka in August 1929.

At a recent conference of the Nationalist or Fascist party of which he is the nominal leader he made no denial of an open charge by members of his own party that he had instigated the attacks on the Jews of Slobodka. At the time this had been suspected in view of the participation of Fascists in the attacks. On July 14 Professor Voldemaras’ party ordered the expulsion of all Jews.
