A complaint by the central region of the Canadian Jewish Congress to the Canadian Government against the use of employment applications containing questions about race, religion and national origins has resulted in a change of policy by the Bank of Nova Scotia, the CJC reported here.
The Department of Labor in Ottawa brought the matter to the attention of the bank, stressing that such questions violated the national Fair Employment Practices Act. The Bank agreed to use new forms, with these questions eliminated, the Department of Labor subsequently informed the CJC.
