Urging religious freedom for Baptists and Jews in Roumania, a set of appeals was drawn up in the form of a resolution by the Rev. Kingman A. Handy, of Baltimore, and the Rev. Jacob Gartenhaus, of Atlanta, at the ninety-first annual convention of the Maryland Baptist Union Association being held here.
The appeals, which were drawn up on Wednesday, the same day Queen Marie of Roumania was entertained here, were passed on by the resolutions committee the following day and then forwarded to the Queen. Mr. Handy also intimated that representatives of the Southern Baptist Convention would seek an audience with Queen Marie in reference to the alleged persecution of Baptists in her country.
