Cardinal Barlassina, the representative of the Vatican in Palestine, refused to attend the banquet given yesterday at the Government House by Sir Herbert Samuel in honor of General Weygand, High Commissioner of Syria.
It is understood that the Cardinal’s refusal is the result of his attitude in the case of the “Doar Hayom”, the Hebrew daily paper of Jerusalem, which he accused of having published an article containing remarks which were, in his opinion, offensive to Catholics.
