Haim Barlev, the Commerce Minister who built the defense line on the eastern bank of the Suez Canal which bears his name, said Saturday that Israel could not reasonably expect to get a settlement with Egypt “as long as we sit along the canal.” In a radio interview, the former Chief of Staff said that under the right conditions, Israel could withdraw from the Barlev line to points between the line and the pre-Six-Day War border “without sacrificing strategic depth.”

Arab terrorists have been reported by the Bavartan Interior Ministry to be in the Munich area. A spokesman declined to indicate their nationalities but said they had entered West Germany in the past day or so. Security forces have been put on maximum alert.
