Barondess Marshall Pine and Wise at Immigration Hearings

Steps to be taken to assure a liberal immigration policy in the United States and possible measures to prevent the passage of more restrictive immigration legislation were considered Sunday at the home of Louis Marshall by representatives of various important Jewish organizations. In particular, it is learned, the proper method of cooperation in presenting evidence before the Immigration Committee and the House of Representatives which is holding public hearings, was discussed. It is understood it was agreed that a joint committee representing the organizations participating in the conference go before the Immigration Committee Thursday or Friday, the Committee to consist of Louis Marshall, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Max Pine and Joseph Barondess. Those at the conference yesterday included Louis Marshall, President of the American Jewish Committee, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, President of the American Jewish Congress, Max Pine, Secretary of the Hebrew Trade Unions, Cyrus L. Sulzberger, Joseph Barondess, Bernard G. Richards, Arthur M. Lamport, George I. Fox, John L. Bernstein, Jacob Massel and a representative of the Independent Order Bnai Brith.

It was the concensus of opinion that the Jewish representatives cooperate with representatives of other nationalities and all others interested in liberal immigration.
