Barter transactions amounting to 18,000,000 marks—$4,500,000—were concluded during 1934 between Germany and Palestine under the existing transfer arrangement, it was announced here today by Haavara, Ltd., organization which supervises the transfer operations.
The announcement issued by Haavara states that 6,000,000 marks of the above amount have been paid out in Palestine to individual Jews who immigrated from Germany. The announcement also emphasizes that the Jewish National Fund has received 2,500,000 marks under the transfer agreement.
