“Every individual should be trained for communal responsibilities,” Dr. A. Basel said in a lecture conducted by the Bronx Jewish Community Club at the Schiff Center, 2510 Valentine avenue, last night. Dr. Basel’s topic was, “Function and Value of a Jewish Community.”
“I feel that the greatest hindrance in developing Jewish institutions in this city is caused by lack of cooperative communal spirit,” Dr. Basel declared. “Of the 2,000,000 Jews dwelling in New York comparatively few support institutions which are the pride of Jewry.”
