A special court for German judges at Bamberg opened disciplinary action today against Professor Rudolf Schiedermair, who was suspended from his post as president of the Bavarian Administrative Court here last September and formally charged on November 27 with aiding in the “final solution of the Jewish problem.”
Dr. Schiedermair was suspended on charges of having participated in Nazi terror judgments in special wartime courts in occupied Norway where he had been sentenced in 1949 to two years in prison for taking part in verdicts that led to death sentences for relatively minor offenses.
The formal charge was based on suspicion that, as an SS officer in the Nazi party central office, he had acted to prevent Jews in Bohemia and Moravia from leaving and this becoming targets of Adolf Eichman’s program for the transport of millions of European Jews to their deaths. He had withheld this information when he joined the West German judiciary.
The University of Wuerzburg meanwhile disclosed that Dr. Schiedermair, who is on the law faculty, was not lecturing this term. Protests had bee made against his continuing in his university duties.
