“DON’T BE ANTI-SEMITES; BE CHRISTIANS!” DECLARED THE CATHOLIC PRELATE, DR. SUBIK, TODAY ADDRESSING A PUBLIC MEETING OF THE CATHOLIC YOUTH FRONT AT EGER.
CONDEMNING BOTH “EASTERN ATHEISM AND WESTERN RACE WORSHIP,” DR. SUBIK SAID:
“THE TEACHING OF BLOOD AND RACE IS AGAINST THE VITAL INTERESTS OF HUNGARY AND AGAINST THE RELIGIOUS CONVICTIONS OF THE HUNGARIAN PEOPLE. UNITY OF THE NATION IS ACHIEVABLE, NOT BY THE DOCTRINE OF BLOOD, BUT BY UNITY OF CULTURE.”
HE OPPOSED ANTI-SEMITISM ON THE GROUND THAT “NOTHING HAS YET BEEN ACHIEVED BY HATRED.”
