Secret instructions to the rural authorities to treat Jews politely during the Olympic Games have been dispatched by Walter Darre, Minister for Agriculture, it was learned today.
The instructions emphasize that the “fundamental German attitude toward Jews remains unchanged.”
“Jewish provocateurs,” Darre is quoted as cautioning, “must not get the chance to create incidents which could add grist to the mills of anti-German propagandists abroad.”
Anti-Jewish signs are to be removed, the instructions order.
Darre explains that politeness to the Jews is essential “because the German Government has pledged to the Olympic Committee to guarantee protection for all Olympics guests.”
