The problem of Syrian-Israeli armistice negotiations which are now nearing a crisis was discussed today by Aubrey Eban, Israeli delegate to, the United Nations, and the president of the U.N. Security Council, Arne Sunde of Norway.
Representatives of Syria and Israel are scheduled to meet this Friday at which time they will receive a proposal prepared by U.N. mediator Dr. Ralph Bunche calling for the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Israeli soil and demilitarization of the disputed area.
Mr. Eban also conferred today with Jacob Malik, head of the Soviet delegation to the United Nations. He was accompanied by Gideon Rafael, adviser to the, Israeli delegation.
