Henry Selig Belber, 58, one of the founders of the Belber Trunk & Bag Co. of Philadelphia, and long active there in welfare and charitable work, died suddenly from a heart attack early yesterday at his home, 128 South Ridgeway avenue, here.
Mr. Belber was born in Yassy, Rumania, and came with his parents to America at the age of ten. His father, Selig L. Belber, with his sons, founded the luggage concern. It has grown since then to a national concern, with factories in Woodbury, N. J., and Oshkosh, Wis. Mr. Belber was active as chairman of the board. His death came unexpectedly at the end of a busy week, which he had finished in excellent spirits.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rabbi William H. Fineshriber at eleven o’clock Monday morning at the Memorial Chapel of Morris Rosenberger’s Son, 2009 North Broad street, Philadelphia. They will be followed by interment in Mt. Sinai Cemetery there.
