A leather bound copy of the Bible, a gift of Israel President Ben Zvi, was today presented to Belgian Queen Mother Elizabeth by Israel Minister Joseph Ariel. The presentation was made at an audience granted the Israeli diplomat and a delegation of Belgian Zionist leaders.
The Bible and a gold certificate testifying that Queen Elizabeth’s name has been entered in the Jewish National Fund Golden Book was presented as a token of Israel’s gratitude of the Queen’s interest in Jewish achievements in Israel and her sympathy for Belgian Jews during the Nazi occupation. Queen Elizabeth, in an informal conversation after the formal audience was over, recalled her visit to Palestine some 20 years ago and her meetings with the late President Weizmann in Israel and in Brussels.
