Ben Avi, prominent Jewish newspaperman and editor of the “Palestine Weekly,” was arrested here on his return from Europe, for the publication of a booklet as an open letter to the High Commissioner regarding the suppression of the “Doar Hayom,” the Hebrew daily. The booklet criticized the censorship regulations prevailing during the riots.

Ben Avi told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the conduct of the police was incomprehensible, since he had voluntarily returned to face the charge as soon as he heard of the warrant.
