Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the Jewish Agency, agreed today to summon a special Government-Agency meeting for May 26, to work out details of governmental support for the Zionist movement here and abroad.
Dr. Goldmann met the Premier this morning to urge implementation of ‘the Government’s repeated promises of full Israel support to the Zionist movement. He informed the Agency Executive at a meeting this afternoon about the agreement to summon the May 26 meeting, which will be attended by the Israel Cabinet and the Agency executive. In the meantime, prior to May 26, Dr. Goldmann said, he will confer once more with Mr. Ben-Gurion.
Former Prime Minister and ex-Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett reported to the Agency executive about his recent visit to Mexico. He lauded the achievements of Mexican Jewry in the fields of organization and education. He reported that Mexico was the only country outside Israel where more than 80; percent of Jewish children receive full-day Jewish schooling.
