Premier David Ben Gurion tonight challenged the veracity of the report on the Kibya incident submitted to the United Nations Security Council by UN truce supervisor Maj. Gen. Vagn Bennike and charged ### the Big Three resolution on Kibya submitted to the Council discriminated “between the blood of one people and that of another.”
Speaking on a national radio broadcast, the Premier said that the Big Three resolution, which censures Israel, by its silence condones in effect “all the murders committed by armed forces hailing from Jordan including those perpetrated by members of the Arab Legion both before Kibya and since, to the present day.”
Mr. Ben Gurion charged that although it is not the expressed purpose of the resolution, the Big Three action will encourage the Arab states, particularly Jordan, to persist in their provocative acts in the border zones against Israeli inhabitants. He warned that the Israel Government will not be weakened in its resolve to defend its citizens, irrespective of the terms of the resolution before the Security Council.
He hit out sharply at the British Government which he insisted cannot claim the right to plead Jordan’s cause and at the same time try to divest itself of the responsibility which its special position in Jordan entails. The Premier minced no words in expressing his “amazement and deep regret” over the failure of the resolution to call for direct negotiations for a peace settlement.
