Premier David Ben-Gurion told a political rally here attended by 20, 000 people that if Israel should again have to fight the Arab armies, the great quantities of modern arms which the Arabs have received from abroad would fall into the hands of the Israeli Army as happened in the Sinai campaign.
The Premier warned, however, that to accomplish this, the Israeli Army would have to have weapons of equal quality although not in the same quantity as its foes. This, he said, cost hundreds of millions of pounds and was, he said, the answer to the query of the opposition parties as to where all the money had gone.
Mr. Ben-Gurion promised that if he were returned to power in the Nov. 3 elections, his government would introduce free high school education for all. At present, Israel provides free schooling for children aged five to 14.
The open air rally addressed by Mr. Ben-Gurion last night was one of the largest meetings of the Israel political campaign which will end next Tuesday when the voters elect members of Israel’s fourth Parliament.
