Premier-designate David Ben Gurion indicated today that he plans to form a coalition government and have it approved by Parliament before Rosh Hashanah, which begins Friday evening. In circles close to Mr. Ben Gurion there talk that the Cabinet may be formed tomorrow and that the Knesset may be convened Wednesday to give the coalition a vote of confidence.
After meeting again today with representatives of the Hapoel Hamizrachi on his third attempt to obtain the entrance of the religious parties into a broad coalition, Mr. Ben Gurion called urgent meetings for tonight of the Mapai Party political committee and a joint committee consisting of two representatives each of the Mapai, Mapam and Achdut Avodah parties. The Mapai political committee is expected to make a final decision tonight, after which the tri-party group will decide on a division of portfolios.
