Former Premier David Ben-Gurion informed the Mapai Center today that he was not prepared to head the Mapai list of candidates to the forthcoming Parliamentary elections if the Center decided that Levi Eshkol should retain the Premiership.
The members of the Mapai Center will have to decide tonight on who should head the party’s list of candidates to the Parliament and who should be the Mapai candidate to Premier ship. All indications point to the fact that Mr. Eshkol will be named candidate for Premier and that Mr.Ben-Gurion will be asked to head the election list.
