Former Premier David Ben-Gurion took issue here last night with Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, and with Dr. Goldmann’s supporters in Israel’s Cabinet, regarding the recent decision by the 26th World Zionist Congress to offer Israeli aid toward the strengthening of Judaism in the countries outside Israel.
Speaking before a Mapai Party seminar here, Mr. Ben-Gurion said that instead of calling upon Israel to “go to the Diaspora,” the thesis should be that the non-Israeli Jews “should face Israel.” He maintained that American Jews today cannot be treated as if they were part of the East European Jewish communities prior to World War I.
