On the eve of the seventh anniversary of the death of Israel’s first premier, David Ben Gurion, the Knesset devoted a special session today in his memory.

The main address was made by Knesset speaker Yitzhak Bermann, who praised Ben Gurion as the man who radiated confidence in time of doubts, knew when to declare independence, and introduced the statehood to a new country composed of people from many origins. “Despite the fascinations of philosophic literature which he loved,” Bermann said “BG did not follow doctrines blindly. Despite his sometimes aggressive style, his actions demonstrated a belief in the power of the compromise.”
