Asher Ben-Nathan, Israel’s first Ambassador to West Germany, met with Foreign Minister Gerhard Schroeder here today for the first time. The conference lasted 30 minutes.
The Schroeder visit was the first of a series of such conferences with top-ranking West German Government leaders scheduled for this week. A date for a meeting between the Israeli envoy and Chancellor Ludwig Erhard still has not been fixed. Last week, it was indicated that an Erhard-Ben-Nathan meeting would be held this week.
The meeting between Mr. Ben-Nathan and Dr. Schroeder was described as “good and practical,” but no details were given. The visit was carried out according to protocol and the West German protocol chief, Ehrenfreud von Holleben, was present.
