Ben Touster to Head United Hias Service Delegation to Israel

Ben Touster, president of United HIAS Service, the Jewish international migration agency, will head a delegation of the agency’s United States leaders who will participate in the dedication of a modern hostel for technicians, erected in Beersheba, heart of the Negev, it was announced here today.

The hostel, built with funds raised by United HIAS Service, will be formally opened on August 15, following elaborate dedication ceremonies which will be attended by the highest governmental officials, foreign diplomats, and leaders of cultural and social institutions of Israel. The cornerstone of the hostel was placed by Mr. Touster early in 1954.

The hostel will provide comfortable accommodation for scientists and technicians engaged in the industrial, agricultural, and mining development of the Negev. It consists of a three-story building, with 43 self-contained one-room apartments, each equipped with a shower and a refrigerator. A lounge, cafeteria, library, reading and music room and a small synagogue have also been provided. The building stands on a 10-dunam landscaped plot, which includes a swimming pool and other outdoor facilities.
