Informed sources predicted today that President Ben-Zvi would refuse a third term, despite the overwhelming support he is expected to receive when Israel’s Parliament elects a President during the winter session opening in November.
Most Knesset members, without regard to party affiliation, were reported to favor Mr. Ben-Zvi’s re-election. But the 78-year-old President has referred repeatedly to his desire to retire and devote himself to writing and research.
