President Benes today received a delegation representing the Federation of Jewish Communities in Slovakia, which called upon him to discuss the restoration of Jewish property. The delegation emphasized that problems concerning the return of property to Jewish owners have not yet been fully solved in Slovakia.
The Czechoslovakian President assured the delegation that he will do everything possible to effect a speedy solution of all problems involving the Jews of Slovakia. He pointed out that a decree providing for restitution of confiscated property to the former Jewish owners has been issued by the central government in Czechoslovakia, but it has not as yet been recognized by the Slovak National Council. He added that he will personally insist on early action.
