An appeal to the General Zionists in Israel to rise above party politics and put the country’s interests first was made today by Premier David Ben Gurion. The message was read at the opening session of the nationwide conference of the General Zionist Party which is taking place in Ramat Gan.
Dr. Peretz Bernstein, leader of the General Zionists, addressing the opening session, expressed regret over the fact that the party was not given an opportunity to participate in the coalition government. He reported that the party has grown since its conference last year and expressed agreement in principle to a union of the General Zionists and Progressive Party.
