A gift of $250,000 to Columbia University by Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Buttenwieser of New York was announced here today by president Grayson Kirk of Columbia. The gift will establish “The Joseph L. Buttenwieser Professorship in Human Relations.”
Joseph L. Buttenwieser, in whose memory the chair has been established, was the father of Benjamin Buttenwieser. He died in 1938. Benjamin Buttenwieser, who was graduated from Columbia College in 1919, is a New York banker, a limited partner of Kuhn, Loeb & Co., and is identified with important philanthropic and public service projects.
