Bentzel Tzalewitch, Israeli chairman of the Bund, the Yiddish-speaking organization, and a prominent labor leader in this country for more than a quarter of a century, died here Sunday. He was 79. Arriving here from Bialystok in 1922, he organized the first Palestinian trade union of Jewish bakery workers in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem. He is well known in the United States where he visited often, usually under the auspices of the Coordinating Committee of the Bunds and Affiliated Jewish Socialist Organizations.
