Professor Henri Bergson, famous French Jewish philosopher, writer and lecturer, today celebrated his seventy-fifth birthday. The world-famous philosopher, as usual, spent the day in his office at the College de France, where he has held a chair since 1900.
At a recent meeting of the International Philosophers Congress in Praha, Czechoslovakia, Professor Bergson was elected honorary president of the organization.
Professor Bergson, one of the “forty immortals” of the French Academy, is the sponsor of the famous theory of creative evolution and led the modern philosophic revolt against intellectualism.
He is the author of a number of highly important works on philosophy, including “L’Evolution Creatie,” “Matiere et Memoire” and “Essai sur les Donnees Immediates de la Conscience.”
Thirty years ago Professor Bergson paid a visit to the United States, where he delivered lectures at all the leading universities. The noted philosopher’s lectures attracted thousands of listeners.
