The Jewish community here is now self-supporting and has achieved a balanced budget for the current year, it was reported here today in the local Jewish weekly, “Der Weg.”
The Jews here, however, continue to complain against the British authorities’ continued occupation of the former Jewish home for the aged, in the suburb of Schmargendorf, which was erected at great cost shortly before Hitler’s rise to power. Although the British have converted the former Jewish institution into a barracks, the Jewish community here receives no compensation whatsoever.
