The possibility of entrusting Dr. Vaida-Voevod, the anti-Semitic ex-premier of Rumania, with the mission of constituting a new Rumanian government is predicted here in the Frankfurter Zeitung in a report from Bucharest.
Emphasizing the anti-Jewish propaganda which Dr. Vaida-Voevod is now openly spreading throughout the country, the report declares that “the forces around Vaida are not Nazi forces, but rather Social Reactionary.” The correspondent emphasizes that the ex-premier’s anti-Semitic propaganda has become a strong factor in the country.
“The anti-Semitic movement run here by Professor Cuza has existed for decades, but has not made any progress,” the Rumanian correspondent of the German paper writes. “The Iron Guard attracted attention for a while, then it was prohibited, rivalry broke out between the leaders, and nothing more is heard of it. The Nazi party headed by Col. Stefan Tatarescu, the Prime Minister’s brother, has not fared better. The National Agrarian Party, led by the anti-Semite Goga, also plays no part at present. Vaida-Voevod’s action, however, has stirred all the Right parties into activity and has placed him now at the head of the Nationalist agitation.”
