Berlin University has been closed down by the authorities until Monday, because of the antisemitic excesses which developed this afternoon on extremely serious lines.
The authorities have satisfied themselves that an attack made by Nazi students on the Jewish Students’ Corporation “Sprevia” was carefully organised. The members of the “Sprevia” were set upon and knocked down and their student caps were pulled off. The “Sprevia” defended themselves vigorously, so that there was some very severe fighting, in which the outnumbered Jews were badly mauled. As the Jewish students retreated the Nazi students started the Hitlerist battle-song- “when Jewish blood drips from the knife, we Germans feel that is the life”.
