Berliner Tageblatt to Have Second Jewish Issue

The Berliner Tageblatt, which last week created somewhat of a sensation with a special four-page supplement devoted to the problem of integrating German Jews in the “New Germany,” Sunday devoted a full page to the reaction to this step from abroad. Another supplement is announced for next Sunday.

Among the reactions noted, from Paris, London, Warsaw, Prague, Budapest and Stockholm, by correspondents of the paper, were compliments to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for its interpretation of the supplement. The general reaction was one of mixed feelings.

The paper states that thousands of letters have been received by it from its readers. Jewish circles here, however, continue to regard the Tageblatt’s efforts with considerable skepticism, in view of the fact that the recognized Jewish leaders have not been invited to present their side of the question and participate in the discussion. A frequent question is why hasn’t the Tageblatt reinstated the Jews dismissed from its own staff if it is really anxious to aid in the solution of the German Jewish problem.
