Rabbi Zirelson, the head of the Kisheneff Jewish Community, has taken a stand in favor of Roumania, in the matter of Bessarabia. He held a public meeting several days ago at which resolutions were passed asking for the retention of Bessarabia by Roumania.
There is great indignation among the Jewish population at this partisanship of the Rabbi. It is generally considered that the attitude of the Jews of Bessarabia, in the present conflict between Russia and Roumania, should be a strictly neutral one, and the action of Rabbi Zirelson is considered a breach of this neutrality.
